Travelling further out of Johannesburg, about 40km away to the south-west, is the suburb of Lawley. The suburb has a few neighbouring areas and these include Lenasia as well as Lenasia South, Ennerdale and Orange Farm. Otherwise, surrounding areas consist out of agricultural land or open ground. Even through Lawley sits a distance from major towns, it does have easy access to adjacent areas. The R558 borders the suburb to the east, which travels down through Ennerdale to connect with the N1. Walter Road turns off from the Randfontein Road and travels through Lawley to eventually reconnect with another section of the R558.
The suburb seems to be divided into two sections, one the main area of Lawley and another section called Lawley Estate. All properties for sale in the entire area are houses, with the average selling price of a house being just under R600 000. Residents with families do have access to the Lawley Primary School and the Lawley Thuto Lefa Secondary School. Those who attend Church can join services on Sundays’ at the Lawley Assemblies of God.
Scattered throughout the suburb are a few pubs and fast food Take-away restaurants. There is only a small grocery store available within the area; there are larger stores to be found in Ennerdale or South Lenasia nearby. Lawley also has its own Fire Station, which is located along the Walter Road, also along this road is a taxi rank. There is an additional taxi rank further south within the area, close to the R558.
