Travelling a bit more inland and sitting a few kilometres north of Newlands West, in Durban, is the township of Ntuzuma. The region is surrounded by other areas or townships that include KwaMashu, Inanda and Phoenix. Central Durban can be reached via the N2 and is about a 30-minute drive to the south-east of Ntuzuma. Properties for sale in the area are mostly affordable houses and RDP housing. The average sale for housing properties in the area is just below R500 000.
The region is quite large and ever expanding due to the demand for housing. Because of the need for housing, there is also quite a large informal settlement in the area. Over the years the areas have developed and grown into different sections, which include Ntuzuma A through to H. Within the region are schools and churches. There are primary schools such as Ndabomuhle Primary School as well as High Schools. You also have the Elangeni College, a Technical and Vocational Education and Training facility.
Ntuzuma has its own police station, fire department and community Halls. There is also a library, a clinic and a small magisterial Court. One of the sporting facilities in the area is the TM Stadium, which provides facilities for various sporting activities. There are no larger shopping Centres within Ntuzuma, so residents will have to visit the Bridge Shopping Centre over in KwaMashu.
Those living in Ntuzuma get around mostly by using public transport, which includes taxis and buses. Few residents also have their own vehicles to drive around in. The railway line is a bit further away with the closest stop being the KwaMashu Station.
