Traveling south from the Johannesburg CBD on the M1 or De Villiers Graaff Motorway, will take you through to Ormonde, a suburb just over 9km away from the city. The suburb is part residential, commercial and Industrial. Nasrec, Aeroton, Crown Gardens and Robertsham are all suburbs that lie adjacent to Ormonde. The M1 runs past the suburb and meets up with the N12 Southern Bypass a short distance away to the south.
A large portion of the suburb consists out of a residential area where you will find properties for sale that include some well-priced houses, townhouses and apartments. Many of the townhouses and apartments are built within secure complexes, the same with the cluster homes available. Then there are also commercial or industrial properties for sale along and close to the Crownwood Road.
Ormonde has a few schools and other educational facilities, such as the UNISA Examination Centre and Conference Centre. Schools include the Nova Pioneer Ormonde School and the Gold Reef Private Primary School, which also has a day-care Centre. The area has its own supermarket and there are a number of shopping malls available in neighbouring areas.
The most popular destination in the area is the famous Gold Reef City, which used to be a working mine. Today it has a museum and the popular amusement park, which has loads of fun rides and things to do. To add to the whole experience, there is the Gold Reef Casino, which has a movie house and theatre. Close to this you will find the Apartheid Museum, where you can learn all about the recent history of South Africa.
