The suburb of Turffontein is easy to find and is located just south of Johannesburg along the M9 or Eloff Street. Neighbouring areas include the small suburb of Turf Club as well as Southdale, Glenesk, La Rochelle, Kenilworth and Forest Hill. The Kliprivier Drive runs past on the western side of Turffontein and leads straight through to connect with the N12 Southern Bypass. The M1 and N17 are both also close to the Turffontein area.
Most of the properties for sale in the area include free-standing houses, but there are also a number of townhouses as well as apartments. Commercial and Industrial Properties are also available. Those living in the area are close to schools and churches. You have The Hamlet School as well as the Park Senior and Junior Primary Schools.
Scattered throughout the area you will find some supermarkets, takeaway stores, restaurants and other businesses. The Southdale Shopping Centre is situated adjacent to Turffontein. Situated just a bit further from this, is Gold Reef City, which is a short distance away on the other side of the M1. One of the major facilities within the suburb is the Turffontein Race Course, which is one of the oldest in the country. The Racecourse is host to one of the larger racing events in South Africa, known as The Summer Cup.
The Turffontein Fire Station is located along the Turf Club Street along with a number of other businesses and the Herbert Park Bowling Club. The Rotunda Park is a popular community park, which provides access to a number of activities like basketball and football. This venue is also a great place for the kids to play and to enjoy family picnics.
